Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. (DIN).
The German Institute for Standardization, is a registered association, founded in 1917, as the German national standards body. DIN also represents German standardization interests at international and European level. DIN Standards promote rationalization, quality assurance, safety, and environmental protection as well as improving communication between industry, technology, the sciences, government and the public domain. The majority of the standards offered by DIN are aimed at the German market. However, they are widely used outside Germany by the European community and by manufacturers who wish to import their products Germany and the European Community. In addition, because of their exacting requirements and wide ranging content, DIN standards are widely used worldwide in education and product development activities.
